Writing is an important skill in language learning to development idea, knowledge
and experience.In this research, the writer takes Roundtable Technique toward
students’ writing ability of descriptive text. This researchwas to know whether there
is influence of roundtable technique toward students writing descriptive text.

In this research, the researcher used true experimental research.It conducted at SMP
N 4Pringsewu. This research was a quantitative research. The study consisted of two
classes that are experimental class and control class. The instrument of research used
test. The test realized in writing descriptive text. Population of this research is at the
eight grade of SMP N 4 Pringsewu. The researcher used the roundtable technique.
The samples of the research are VIII A as experimental class and VIII B as control
class. To collect the data, the researcher utilized a test consisting of a pretest and
posttest given in the beginning and at the end of the study. The test is employed to
reveal the students’ writing skill.

The result of research, there was a significant difference between the students’ pretest

and post-test in the experimental class and pre-test and post-test in the control
class. The mean score of pre-test in experimental class was 63.21, while the mean
score of pre-test in control group class was 60.7. Meanwhile, the mean score of posttest

in experimental class was 68.4 and the mean score of post-test in control group
class was 69.5. Based on the finding and discussion of the research, it can be
concluded that roundtable technique is influence toward students’ writing ability of
descriptive text. The researcher should give away manychance to student be more
active and effective by themselves and the reseacher suggest to English teacher to try
roundtable technique for teaching learning in the class.
