Abstract

ABSTRACT

AN ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS’ DIFFICULTY IN ENGLISH ONLINE
LEARNING

English learning is currently being a bit hampered because of covid-19
pandemic, and cannot meet face to face directly between the students and
the lecturer. Therefore, because of this situation the students are asked to
study at home using online media. Therefore, this research aimed to obtain
the information then analyzed the information about the students’ difficulty
in English online learning during covid-19 pandemic.

This research used descriptive qualitative method. The population was all
students of 3
rd
semester of guidance and counseling major of Universit y
Muhammadiyah Pringsewu in academic year 2019/2020, consisted of 35
students as the sample. Before the researcher analyzed the data, the
researcher collected the data from the interview and the questionnaire. The
data analysis technique that used in this research was reduction, data
display, and conclusion.
Based on the result of this research, the difficulties in learning English
Online for students are varied. Various causes of student learning
difficulties are as follows: lack of motivation, lack of English intake,
learning environment that not supported, and facility and the infrastructure
that not supported.
